Men's Track and Field Prepared for Meets at N.C. State and Navy

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's track and field team is heading to two meets this weekend to kick off the second week of the outdoor season.
Lehigh will send some of the distance runners down to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State. The three-day meet will begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the men's javelin. Track events will begin at 4:45 p.m. with the men's 1500m.
Three Mountain Hawks will compete in Raleigh on Thursday night. Senior Kyle Burke and juniors Jacob Martinez and Connor Melko will be competing in the 1500m. The trio are coming off of solid indoor performances and are looking to have a successful outdoor season. Burke claimed four school records during the indoor season and is looking to grab two more in the 800m and 1500m.
Martinez and Melko finished last year's outdoor season with solid performances. Martinez earned a new PR in the 1500m (3:58.76) at the outdoor Patriot League Championships last year. Melko also found success at the 2021 outdoor championships, finishing second in the 5000m.
The Mountain Hawks will travel to Annapolis, Md. to compete in their second meet of the weekend. The Navy Invitational will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the men's hammer throw. Track events will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women's 10k. The men's 10k is set to begin at 12:15 p.m.
Lehigh has a solid group competing in the throws on Saturday, with sophomore Achilles Mouzakis leading the Mountain Hawks. Mouzakis concluded the 2021 indoor season with two huge PRs in the hammer throw (48.97m) and discus (35.68m). First-years Hunter Rodarmel and Greg Stagliano will compete in the javelin on Saturday after finishing with solid performances at the Penn Challenge last weekend. Stagliano finished with a throw of 50.85m while Rodarmel finished with a mark of 49.41m.
In the pole vault, juniors Louis Logsdail and Adam Stavash will be returning for the Mountain Hawks. The duo both concluded the indoor season with new PRs at the championships. Logsdail finished with a mark of 4.70m while Stavash finished with a mark of 4.40m.
In the jumps, Lehigh has a combination of upperclass athletes and first-years competing this outdoor season. Leading the way is junior Ian Scott, who is coming off of a second place finish in the triple jump at the indoor Patriot League Championships. Scott will compete in the triple and high jump and will be joined by first-year Skyler Mott in both events. Mott had an impressive first indoor season, finishing fifth in the high jump and eighth in the triple jump at the indoor championships.
On the track, the Mountain Hawks are looking to build on their success from the indoor season. In the sprints, first-year Jonathan Bennett leads the way after making his outdoor debut last weekend. Bennett became sixth all-time in the 100m with a time of 10.78 and eighth all-time in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.55.
Lehigh's distance group is looking to have another successful outdoor season. First-year Kevin Harvey will be competing in the 5000m in his first outdoor meet as a Mountain Hawk. Seniors Avery Lederer, Seth Slavin, Nick Wilson and junior Riley Williamson will join Harvey in the 5k on Saturday.
