
Mountain Hawks to Kick Off Spring Season at The Big Texan, Beginning Monday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team opens its spring campaign in Texas as the Mountain Hawks will play in The Big Texan, hosted by UTRGV, Monday-Tuesday at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas. The two-day tournament will be the first of six spring competitions for the Mountain Hawks, culminating in the Patriot League Championship Apr. 29-May 1 at The Steel Club.

Lehigh played in five tournaments during the fall, highlighted by a fourth place finish at the Columbia Autumn Invitational and a fifth place finish at the Lehigh Invitational. The Mountain Hawks had four different individual leaders in its five fall events. Junior Daniel Song led the Mountain Hawks at the opening Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational and the fall finale at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate.

Juniors David Hurly and Sam Barton also led Lehigh in one fall event as did sophomore Edmund Broderick. Barton was a first team All-Patriot League honoree last spring.

The Mountain Hawks' roster also includes juniors Alex Aurora and Joey Dotta, sophomores Marco Arosemena and AJ Gilpin and first-years Jahan Bains and Aidan Oehrle.

The Big Texan will be played on The Valley and the Hills Course at Comanche Trace, which plays to a par 72 at 7,059 yards.

The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on Monday, with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT and 18 holes on Tuesday.

Participating teams include Seton Hall, UT Arlington, Northern Colorado, Incarnate Word, Houston Baptist, New Orleans, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Odessa College, Midland College, and Southeastern Louisiana, plus Lehigh and host UTRGV.

Following The Big Texan, Lehigh will stay busy in April with the Columbia Spring Invitational (Apr. 4), ABARTA Collegiate Invitational (Apr. 10-11) and Wildcat Invitational (Apr. 18-19). The annual Presidents' Cup matches versus Lafayette, which were rained out in October, will be played Apr. 21 at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J.
