Mountain Hawks Travel to the Midwest for First-Ever Matchup Against Wisconsin

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's basketball squad makes its first trip to Madison in program history to face off with the Wisconsin Badgers. The Mountain Hawks are entering after back-to-back losses while Wisconsin is riding a three-game winning streak and returns to the Kohl Center after an overtime win over the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday.

Lehigh (4-4) enters the night coming off its second straight loss, an 88-62 loss to UMBC inside Stabler Arena for their first home loss of the season. Sophomore Tyler Whitney-Sidney, a Patriot League Honorable Mention, led a trio of Mountain Hawks that recorded double-figures with a career-high 23 points and team-high four steals. He went 7-for-14 from the field and 6-for-7 at the free-throw line and added four rebounds and an assist. A couple of seniors Evan Taylor and Jake Betlow joined Whitney-Sidney in double-digit scoring, with Taylor leading the squad with six boards and added two assists while Betlow scored a career-best 15 points on five three-pointers and swiped a steal and a rebound.

Three Mountain Hawks are averaging double-figures after eight games this season, led Taylor with 13.5 points per game and tied for first with 5.5 rebounds per outing. Whitney-Sidney has scored in double-digits the last four games and now is scoring 13.7 points per outing, and a team-leading 18 steals and 5.0 rebounds. while Higgins Jr. follows with 11.6 points and 2.6 assists per game.

Wisconsin (8-2, 2-0 B1G) is coming off a pair of Big Ten wins over No. 13 Maryland (64-59) and Iowa (78-75, OT). The Badgers have three individuals scoring at least ten points, led by Tyler Wahl, averaging 14.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest. Chucky Hepburn is scoring 12.4 points per outing and leads the team with 22 three-pointers and 20 steals while Connor Essegian is at a clip of 10.4 points per game. Steven Crowl leads the Badgers with 34 assists and 10 blocks.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 17 when they host Division III St. Elizabeth. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Stabler Arena and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
