Mountain Hawks Roll to Team Title at Alabama A&M Fall Invite; Roth Individual Medalist

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lehigh men's golf team completed its fall season with a flourish, dominating a nine-team field to win the team title at the Alabama A&M Fall Invite, which wrapped up Tuesday at Robert Trent Jones at Hampton Cove. The Mountain Hawks had four of the top five individual finishers to complete the fog-shortened 36-hole event at 19 under par 557 (277-280).

First-year Jake Roth shot seven under par 65 Tuesday to claim medalist honors at 11 under par 133 (68-65). Roth stormed to a six-stroke victory over Felipe Gomez Lopez of host Alabama A&M.

The team and individual titles come on the heels of an October that began with a team-title at Binghamton's Matthews Auto Intercollegiate, and also featured a match-play win over Lafayette and a second place finish at the Lehigh Invitational, with senior Daniel Song winning the individual title.

Roth started hot and never relented for the Mountain Hawks. His round Tuesday featured seven birdies and 11 pars, including five birdies on the front nine.

Song and classmate David Hurly tied for third place with identical scores of 142 (69-73). Song made four  birdies in his final round, while Hurly made two.

Junior Edmund Broderick finished fifth overall at 143 (74-69) and made four birdies in his final round 69.

Senior Sam Barton finished in a tie for 17th place at 148 (71-77) and made one birdie on Tuesday.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Aidan Oehrle had a strong finish, shooting one under par 71 Tuesday to move into a tie for 12th place at 147 (76-71). Oehrle made four birdies, including three straight on holes 8, 9 and 10 in his final round.

Three teams tied for second behind the Mountain Hawks at 589: Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Alabama State and Alabama A&M.
