Mountain Hawks Tie For Ninth Place At The Doc Gimmler

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Junior David Hurly carded a round of four under par 66 as Lehigh finished The Doc Gimmler Sunday with a team score of even par 280 on the Red Course at Bethpage State Park. The Mountain Hawks finished the two-day, 54-hole event at 865 (299-286-280) to tie for ninth place in a 14-team field.
 
Hurly's career-best round included four birdies and 14 pars as he vaulted into the top position among Lehigh players, tying for 14th at 213 (76-71-66).
 
Classmate Sam Barton was Lehigh's No. 2 finisher, with a final total of 214 (72-71-71). He finished in a tie for 20th after making a pair of birdies in his final round.
 
Lehigh's second-lowest round Sunday was turned in by sophomore Edmund Broderick, who made four birdies and four bogeys in a round of even par 70. Broderick tied for 44th at 219 (73-76-70).
 
Junior Daniel Song and freshman Jahan Bains both tied for 60th place at 225. Song went 80-72-73 with two birdies on Sunday, while Bains went 78-72-75 and had one birdie in his final round.
 
Columbia edged Harvard and Connecticut by one stroke to capture the team title with a final score of 845 (281-278-286).
 
Villanova's Peter Weaver was the individual medalist at four under par 206 (68-71-67). He beat Navy's Chad Deegan by one stroke.
 
The Mountain Hawks will next face Lafayette in the annual President's Cup matches at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J. on Sept. 28.
