Keefe Named Preseason All-League; Mountain Hawks Picked Sixth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the Mountain Hawks' 2021 season opener just 10 days away, the Patriot League announced the preseason women's soccer poll and individual honorees on Tuesday. Senior defender Erin Keefe was named preseason All-League while Lehigh was picked sixth, predicted to advance to the Patriot League Tournament for the fourth time in the last six seasons.

Keefe has gotten better and better as her career has progressed. Last season (in the spring), she was named United Soccer Coaches third team All-Region after also garnering All-Patriot League (second team) honors for the first time in her career. Keefe was an anchor for the Mountain Hawks' back line, which finished the season fourth in the Patriot League in goals against average (0.60). Lehigh allowed just four goals in six games, which included three overtime contests. Keefe played in five games, starting them all, and Lehigh picked up shutouts in three of those matches. Keefe has played in 41 career games, starting 24 and posting two assists.

Navy was predicted to repeat as Patriot League champions, coming in first with 154 points (14 first-place votes). The Mids were followed by Boston University (132 points), Colgate (128, five first-place votes), Army West Point (112), Loyola (104, one first-place vote) and Lehigh (82). After the Mountain Hawks was Lafayette (77), Holy Cross (46), Bucknell (45) and American (20).
The Mountain Hawks are hard at work in preseason practice, preparing for their season opener next Friday, Aug. 20 at Monmouth. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
