Mountain Hawks tally 26 total wins at the Lafayette Tri Meet on Saturday

EASTON, Pa. – Competing for the fifth consecutive weekend, the Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Lafayette Tri Meet on Saturday against the Leopards and the Pioneers of Sacred Heart. At the conclusion of the day-long event, the Mountain Hawks dominated the day with 26 wins.
Starting on the women's side, senior Brittany Curtin's hammer throw score of 53.83m on her sixth attempt bested the field for the win. Junior Tesha McKoy earned a decisive win with a 12.73m mark in the shot put. Curtin (42.05) and McKoy (41.72) also went one and two in the discus. In the high jump, Calista Marzolino picked up her first-career win and Kerry Perna finished in second by clearing the 1.65m mark. The two women both couldn't convert the jump at 1.70m. In the 4x100m relay, Brett DeWeese, Alexis Smith, Camari Griffin and Morgan McConnell won jetted past their opponents and won with a time of 48.65.
The Mountain Hawks finished one and two in the 1500m run with Christina Yakaboski (4:47.29) earning her first-career win and Jade Sessions (4:47.36) finishing second. Lehigh also dominated the field and had the top four finishers in the 800m with Carly Friend (2:18.18), Hetty McMillian (2:19.34), Jade Sessions (2:21.22) and Miranda Royds (2:21.45). Kaja Skerlj and Lauren Powell finished first and second in the 400mH. Skerlj's winning time was 1:03.92, while Powell's time of 1:10.32 was good enough for second. The 4x400m relay team of Ashley Struck, Friend, Smith and Skerlj won with a time of 4:04.99.
The senior Smith added another win on the day in the 200m dash with a time of 25.84. The freshman Struck finished right behind her in second at 26.11. The first-year athlete Struck also took home the win in the 400m dash at 59.46. Camari Griffin took fourth in 400m dash at 1:02.86. The talented senior DeWeese added another win in the 100mH with a time of 14.96, while Ashley Griesmeyer finished third at 15.15. McConnell, another senior for Lehigh, piled on another win in the 100m dash at 12.72.
In the steeplechase, freshman Lindsay MacLellan finished second with a time of 11:35.92. Rachel Sequeira added a second-place finish for the Mountain Hawks in the triple jump at 11.26m, while Avery Roze finished fourth with a mark of 10.52m. The senior DeWeese added a second-place finish in the long jump at 5.14m, while Sequeira finished fourth at 5.08m. Veronica Meyer (35.01m) and Brianna Wanbaugh (32.63) took third and fourth in the javelin.
On the men's side, sophomore Ian Scott tabbed two wins on the day in the high jump (1.90m) and the long jump (6.53m). Conor Reilly continued to dazzle in his rookie campaign, as the freshman won another pole vault event by clearing 4.63m. Senior Riley LaRiviere won his first-career event in the shot put at 14.58m, while also winning the discus at 42.55m. LaRiviere also managed a second-place finish in the hammer throw at 52.47m. Freshman Achilles Mouzakis finished third in the hammer at 48.97, while his brother, Anastasios, finished fourth at 48.18m.
In the 100m dash, senior sprinter Samuel Tapera blew by his opponents and won with a time of 11.23. Senior distance runner Nick Norton took home the win in the steeplechase with a time of 9:21.09. In the 400m dash, Amondo Lemmon (50.39) and Douglas Cooke (50.56) took first and second for the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh dominated the 800m run by placing the top three finishers in Sean Brown (1:55.94), Brandtson Duffie (1:58.21) and Kerem Ayhan (1:59.76).
In the 4x400m relay, Evan El-Halawani, Ayhan, Cooke and Lemmon won with a time of 3:25.59. Jacob Martinez won the 1500m run with a time of 4:01.49, while Jeffrey Kirshenbaum tallied a third-place finish at 4:02.87. The sophomore Lemmon also registered a win in the 200m dash at 22.68, while the senior Tapera finished third at 23.05.
In the javelin, the senior thrower Mouzakis took second at 40.56m. Lehigh took second and third in the 110mH with Nardelli (15.26) and Stipanov (15.64). In the 400mH, Lehigh's Tackett (56.10), El-Halawani (56.48) and Vincent Polignano (57.13) took two through four. Rounding out the day for Lehigh, freshman Griffin Pumilia (15:45.24) and Sean Campiglia (16:02.32) finished third and fourth in the 5K.
Up next, the Brown and White will host the John and Carol Covet Classic next Saturday at the Goodman Track and Field Complex.
