BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team is set to compete for the final time in 2021, hosting Holy Cross Saturday at 4 p.m. at Grace Hall in the season finale. Already having been eliminated from postseason contention, the Mountain Hawks (7-19, 3-12 PL) have struggled as of late, dropping three straight matches and nine of their last 10.

The last time Lehigh came out on top was against Loyola Maryland on the road on Oct. 30, a five-set victory that snapped a season-worst five-match skid.

Despite not competing for a title this season, Lehigh still has a lot to play for, especially in the last match of the careers of six seniors including fifth-year standouts Sabrina Lancaster and Hannah Wright.

Freshman Megan Schulte enters Saturday's final match as the team leader in kills with 273, averaging 2.84 kills per set. Lancaster is also averaging 2.84 kills per set this season at 256 total kills, which ranks second. Freshman setter Makena Smith has had a promising rookie year with a team-best 712 assists at 7.66 per set.

Defensively, the Mountain Hawks are led by freshman Kyleigh Brown with 334 digs, while freshman Emily Stewart eclipsed the 100 total block mark in her first season wearing the Brown and White, totaling a team-best 102 with eight solo blocks.

A season removed from qualifying for the Patriot League Tournament, Holy Cross has struggled mightily in 2021, currently in the midst of a seven-match losing streak. The Crusaders (2-24, 1-14 PL) have just two victories this year, a three-set sweep of Merrimack on Sept. 1 and a four-set victory over Lehigh on Oct. 10, the team's last win.

Since a four-set loss at Lafayette on Oct. 23, Holy Cross has dropped 12 consecutive sets, all three-set defeats to American, Loyola Maryland, Army West Point and Colgate all in Worcester.

Gracyn Benck leads the Crusaders with 223 kills at 2.48 kills per set, while Abbie Lane has added 200 to her credit. Halle Carter holds the team lead in assists with 576, while Skye Daval-Santos leads the team with 26 service aces this season. Daval-Santos also leads her teammates with 384 digs, while Lauren Halverson has totaled 57 of Holy Cross' 130 total blocks.

Despite leading the all-time series 44-16, Lehigh has dropped four consecutive matches to Holy Cross including four of the last six.
