BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off a strong 2-1 win over Temple, the Lehigh field hockey team will head to Bucknell for a key Patriot League matchup on Saturday (11 a.m.) before hosting Rider on Sunday (1 p.m.). With a win against the Bison, the Mountain Hawks would officially clinch the program's first Patriot League Tournament berth since 2012.

Lehigh remains in a strong position in the league standings, despite last Saturday's 2-0 defeat to No. 23 American. With a win this Saturday at Bucknell, the Mountain Hawks would officially clinch their first Patriot League Tournament berth since 2012.

Last weekend featured a 1-1 record, but a lot of positives. Lehigh stood tied with the Eagles heading into the fourth quarter Saturday, which included a dominant first quarter in which it outshot American, 5-0. Ultimately, the Eagles scored twice in the fourth to remain undefeated. Then on Sunday, Lehigh took advantage of its opportunities, turning six shots into two goals and a 2-1 win over a Temple team that entered the day 7-5. Goals were scored by sophomore Erica Steele and graduate student Lenke Havas as the Mountain Hawks officially secured their first winning regular season since 1994. Havas' goal gave her a team-leading nine on the season along with 20 points – second only behind Sarah Bonthuis.

Bucknell enters the weekend 6-6, 2-1 in league play. The Bison have lost four in a row, but three have been against nationally-ranked opponents. Last time out, Bucknell dropped a 4-2 final at home vs. Cornell. In the league, the Bison have beaten Holy Cross (7-2) and Boston University (2-1) while falling at No. 25 American (3-2). Lily Neilson leads Bucknell in goals (9) and points (19). Mary Kate Stefanowicz is second in goals (5) and points (11) while Mackenzie Kile leads the way in assists (6). Mia Fields has the Bison's only defensive save while in goal, Clara McCormick owns a 2.21 goals against average and 65.3 save percentage, having played in all but 15 minutes.

The Bison lead the all-time series with Lehigh, 23-22-1, but the Mountain Hawks won last season (in the spring) via a 4-0 final. It was Lehigh's largest-ever margin of victory vs. Bucknell. It also marked Bucknell's final loss on its way to a Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament victory. Lehigh's last win at Bucknell was in 2006 behind a 3-1 final; the Bison have won seven straight since.

Rider stands 8-4 overall and 1-2 in the NEC entering a Friday matchup against Bryant. The Broncs are coming off a spring season which saw them win the NEC to advance to the NCAA Tournament. This year, Rider stands 3-1 at home and 4-3 on the road. Julia Divorra leads the Broncs in goals (9), assists (5) and points (23) while Carly Brosious isn't far behind with eight goals and four assists for 20 points. Kaitlyn Tomas has seen the majority of time in goal, tallying a 1.70 GAA and 70.9 save percentage.

Lehigh leads Rider 19-18-1 in the all-time series with the last meeting coming in the 2019 season opener, a 1-0 Mountain Hawks' win on the road. The first game as Lehigh head coach, Caitlin Dallmeyer led the Mountain Hawks to a 2-1 home victory on Aug. 26, 2016.

Following this weekend, Lehigh returns to Bethlehem for its final regular season home game, hosting rival Lafayette on Friday, Oct. 22 on Senior Night.
