BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a season which saw him earn second team All-Region, Lehigh men's basketball fifth-year senior Marques Wilson was recognized as a preseason All-Patriot League honoree on Wednesday. Wilson was one of five players from around the league recognized. The Mountain Hawks' leading returning scorer, Wilson averaged 15.3 points per contest last season – good for tops on the Mountain Hawks and 10th in the Patriot League.
Â
Wilson was Lehigh's first NABC All-District honoree since Tim Kempton in 2016-17, and just the Mountain Hawks' sixth different NABC All-District honoree in program history. He was also a postseason All-League honoree.
Â
Wilson reached double-figure points 10 times in 15 games after doing so 20 times in his first 73 contests through his first three seasons. As a senior, he also eclipsed 20 points on four occasions. His season started on an impressive note, tying a career-high 28 points in the opener vs. Lafayette, including a long buzzer-beating 3-pointer in overtime. That evening, the shot led SportsCenter as Scott Van Pelt's best thing he saw today.
Â
Wilson also scored 26 points at Bucknell, 20 at Holy Cross and 22 at Lafayette. He averaged a career-high 2.8 assists per game (seventh in the Patriot League) and 1.6 steals per contest (tied for third in the league). Wilson shot 44.1 percent from the field and averaged 4.1 rebounds per contest.
Â
The Mountain Hawks' season opener is less than a month away as they travel to Rutgers on Nov. 10.
