Connor Melko Tabbed Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Connor Melko was awarded the Patriot League Male Rookie of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Melko finished second overall at Saturday's Lehigh-Lafayette Dual Meet with a time of 25:39.00.
Out of the 26-competitior field, Melko posted an average mile time of 5:09.60. The rookie was at the top the entire race. In the quarter mark by the field hockey field, crossing the brigde halfway through and back in the cornfields before the final push, Melko was always in the top pack for Lehigh.
This was the first time in the beginning part of the campaign in which Melko raced a full 8K. Prior to Saturday's race, Melko finished ninth at the Lehigh Invitational with a time of 19:14.09 and 60th at the Harry Lang Invitational with a time of 21:56.70.
Junior Brad DeMassa received honorable mention by the conference on Tuesday.
DeMassa won the 8K race on Saturday morning with a time of 25:34.20. With the help of Melko and DeMassa, the Mountain Hawks rolled by Lafayette, winning 17-44.
Melko and DeMassa will again be in action on Friday as they will lead Lehigh into the Iona Meet of Champions Meet.
