Douglas finishes second to lead Lehigh at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. — It was a strong showing for freshman Addy Douglas, who finished the Bucknell Invitational in second place individually with a 75 in the final round for a total of 219, nine-over par and two behind Navy's Shannon Gould for first, as the Lehigh women's golf team concludes the weekend with a fourth place finish out of nine teams with a 304 final round score for a total of 910.
 
After shooting scores of 70 and 74 in the first two rounds, Douglas made par six times on the front nine, while bogeying the third, fifth and eighth holes. On the back-nine, she bogeyed the first three holes and finished the tournament with a birdie on 18, finishing with a 75 on the day, four-over par for the round.
 
After battling back for a 70 in round two yesterday afternoon, senior Minuette Laessig struggled for the Mountain Hawks on Sunday, finishing with a 77 in the final round tied for 15th place, three over par and finished with a 227 for the tournament, shooting 17-over. Laessig found par on five holes in the front nine and birdied the 11th hole before she bogeyed twice and found par four times in the final six holes.
 
Junior Angela Ding put together a final round of 75 with two birdies in the early holes to finish five-over par for the round and 24-over for the tournament and finished tied for 30th place.
 
Freshman Iris Shin, competing as an individual, finished the final round with a score of 79, matching her totals from the first two rounds. She finished the round nine-over and was tied for 35th for the tournament.
 
After rounds of 81 and 82 on Saturday, senior Rebecca Markunas bounced back for a round of 77 in the final round with two birdies in the front nine and a birdie on the 15th hole to finish the round seven-over par and a 41st place finish. Freshman Marina Mendez, also competing as an individual, finished in 58th place after shooting 17-over in the final round.
 
Navy took home the team title in addition to the individual title, finishing 55-over par for the tournament with a three-stroke advantage at 895 through three rounds. Youngstown State (898) finished second, while Towson (900) came in third place ahead of Lehigh (910).
 
The Lehigh women's golf team returns to action on Sept. 23 and 24 for the Boston College Intercollegiate in Canton, Mass.
