BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After a weekend away from home, the Lehigh men's soccer program returns to the Ulrich Sports Complex Saturday evening to take on Seton Hall at 6 p.m. The matchup will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
The Mountain Hawks (2-1-0) are coming off a signature 2-0 win over Northwestern last Friday night and a narrow defeat to Wisconsin on Sunday. Sophomore forward Josh Luchini scored a goal in each of the contests en route to his first-ever Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week award. Junior Trevor Koski notched a goal and an assist last weekend, as he currently ranks first on the team in points (5) and is tied for the team-lead in goals (2). Sophomore Nick Jennings has had a hand in two of the Mountain Hawks' four goals this season with two assists in three games. Senior goalkeeper Will Smith registered his second shutout of the season against Northwestern and currently has a goals against average of 0.67 through his first 270 minutes of action.
Currently as a team, the Mountain Hawks are averaging 14.0 shots per game and allowing just 6.7 shots to opponents.
Lehigh has two more non-league matchups before beginning Patriot League play next Saturday at American. The Mountain Hawks are looking to earn victories over Seton Hall and Binghamton before starting the tough league schedule.
Seton Hall will be a tough opponent for Lehigh, though coming off of two straight losses to No. 18 Florida Gulf Coast and Florida International last weekend on the road. Before that, the Pirates took care of business against Central Connecticut State, 6-0 at home to begin the season. Stephen Elias scored three goals against CCSU, still leading the team in that category. Carlton McKenzie leads Seton Hall with eight shots, while Elias has five of the team's 18 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Andreas Nota has made 12 saves and only allowed three goals for a goals allowed average of 1.00 through the first three matches. He also has recorded a shutout.
The all-time series between Lehigh and Seton Hall is tied, 2-2. The Mountain Hawks were the victors the last time the two teams squared off, back on Sept. 19, 2017, 3-1.
