Quinn's top-10 finish leads Lehigh at Wildcat Invitational

MALVERN, Pa. – A balanced team effort resulted in a final round 291 Tuesday for the Lehigh men's golf team at the Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club. All five Lehigh players shot 74 or better as the Mountain Hawks shaved two strokes off their opening round total. Lehigh finished the tournament at 584 (293-291), good for 13th in a 20-team field.
 
Lehigh players combined to make 17 birdies in Tuesday's final round, with juniors Owen Quinn and Ryan Kelly and freshman Michael Tanaka each carding four.
 
Quinn led Lehigh for the second straight day, shooting one under par 70 and tied for seventh place at 139 (69-70).
 
Kelly tied for 42nd place at 146 (72-74), while Tanaka shot 149 (75-74) and tied for 63rd.
 
Lehigh's two seniors, Max Redetzke and Lee Hammerschmidt, tied for 70th and 76th, respectively. Redetzke shot 150 (77-73) for the tournament while Hammerschmidt was one shot behind at 151 (77-74).
 
Drexel led wire-to-wire to capture the team title at 17 under par 551 (272-279). The Dragons beat Akron by nine strokes, while Cleveland State and Delaware tied for third, 10 strokes behind the winners.
 
An opening round 63 helped Drexel's Connor Schmidt win medalist honors. He finished at 11 under par 131 (63-68) to defeat Delaware's Matt Pulgini by three strokes.
 
The Mountain Hawks will next play in the Navy Spring Invitational, April 19-20 in Annapolis, Md.
