Redetzke leads Lehigh at Navy Spring Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – In its final tournament before the Patriot League Championship, Lehigh finished 11th out of 15 teams at the Navy Spring Invitational, which wrapped-up Saturday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks followed a 307 on Friday with a 315 in Saturday's final round to finish with a final score of 622.
 
Individually, the Mountain Hawks were led by senior Max Redetzke, who was the only Lehigh player to shoot two rounds in the 70s at Navy. Redetzke tied for 33rd place at 154 (76-78).
 
Lehigh's low player on Friday, senior Lee Hammerschmidt followed an opening round 74 with an 83 and tied for 47th place at 157.
 
Freshman Michael Tanaka was Lehigh's No. 3 finisher, claiming 53rd place at 158 (80-78).
 
The low round from Lehigh on Saturday belonged to junior Owen Quinn, who rebounded from an opening-round 83 to shoot 76 Saturday and tie for 54th place at 159.
 
Junior Ryan Kelly finished at 160 (77-83) and tied for 59th place.
 
Lafayette claimed the team title at 591 (297-294), beating Binghamton by three strokes, while host Navy finished in third place.
 
Binghamton's Ryan Rodriguez was the individual medalist at three over par 145 (71-74), while Kyle Underwood of LIU Brooklyn and Ryan Tall of Lafayette tied for second.
 
Lehigh will play Lafayette stroke play Tuesday at Saucon Valley Country Club before heading to Hamilton, N.Y. for next weekend's Patriot League Championship.
