BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the Patriot League Championship just a week away, the Lehigh women's golf team heads to Annapolis, Md., for its final tune-up as the Mountain Hawks will compete in the two-day Navy Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club.
The Mountain Hawks are one of five teams that will play the 6,085-yard, par-72 course at Navy. Lehigh and host Navy will be joined by Boston University, Delaware State and Monmouth.
Saturday's first round will feature tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m., while Sunday's final round will feature an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Lehigh will be paired with Boston University and Navy on day one.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a seventh place finish in the eight team Hoya Invitational earlier this week. Lehigh shot 957 (322-317-318) with seniors Reagan Jahn and Aileen Jeong leading the way. Jeong led the Mountain Hawks, tying for 15th place at 231, while Jahn tied for 23rd place. Both of Lehigh's seniors will be competing at Navy along with juniors Minuette Laessig and Rebecca Markunas and sophomore Angela Ding. Freshman Alexis Carras will be competing as an individual.
This will be the fourth consecutive year that Lehigh will play in Navy's spring tournament. The Mountain Hawks posted runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2017. Last year Lehigh played in three tournaments at Navy. The Mountain Hawks finished seventh out of nine teams, with Jahn finishing in fourth place overall. Lehigh returned two weeks later for the Patriot League Championship.
There will be no live scoring for the Navy Invitational, but recaps will be posted after both rounds on Lehighsports.com.
Following this weekend's tournament, Lehigh will set its sights on the Patriot League Championship April 20-21 in Richmond, Va.
