Lehigh finishes 13th at Lafayette's Invitational

HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team shaved nine strokes off of Sunday's opening round 311, carding a 302 to finish the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational hosted by Lafayette with a final score of 613. With junior Owen Quinn leading the way for the Mountain Hawks at the Steel Club, Lehigh finished 13th in a 19 team field.

Quinn shot a one over par 73 on Monday, recording 16 pars plus a double bogey on four and a birdie on five. Paired with an opening round 74, Quinn tied for 12th place at three over par 147.

Freshman Michael Tanaka also posted two rounds in the 70s, following a 76 on Sunday by making four birdies in a round of 75 on Monday. Tanaka's final total of 151 was good to tie for 33rd place.

Senior Max Redetzke matched Quinn for Lehigh's low round of the day and tournament with a 73 Monday. Redetzke made two birdies and paired with an opening round 80 tied for 47th place at 173.

Also competing for Lehigh were junior Ryan Kelly, who tied for 85th place at 162 (81-81) and senior Lee Hammerschmidt, who tied for 89th at 163 (82-81).

Competing as an individual, senior Eamon Marone tied for 47th place at 153 (75-78). Marone posted the low score among the 16 players competing as individuals.

Robert Morris shot a one under par 287 to claim the team title with a final score of 585 (298-287), four strokes better than host Lafayette.

Bucknell's Chris Tanabe was the individual medalist shooting three under par 141 (69-72) to defeat Kritsarin Oukosavanna of Iona by one stroke.

Next up for the Mountain Hawks will be Villanova's Wildcat Invitational April 8-9 in Malvern, Pa.
