BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's golf team begins their spring season on Sunday at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic in South Carolina. The three-day event will be the first of five spring tournaments for the Mountain Hawks, culminating with the Patriot League Championship April 20-21.

The tournament, the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, will be played on two courses at the Kiawah Island Resort: Osprey Point, a par 72 distanced at 5,985 yards; and Oak Point, another par 72 distanced at 5,977 yards.

Tournament host College of Charleston, won last year's rendition of the tournament beating out 42 other competitors. This year, the field has been expanded to 48 teams including five Patriot League members (Boston University, Bucknell, Navy, Richmond and Lehigh). This will be Lehigh's first appearance at the event.

The Mountain Hawks are coming off of a successful fall season, finishing top three in three out of four tournaments including a third consecutive first place finish at their own Lehigh Invitational to conclude the fall season.

The six player Lehigh roster will be led by senior Reagan Jahn. Jahn finished second overall in the Lehigh Invitational with a 150 (76-74) and led the Mountain Hawks in their final three fall tournaments. She posted a 74.78 stroke average over nine fall rounds. Junior Minuette Laessig led Lehigh in the spring-opening Towson Invitational and was second to Jahn among Mountain Hawks in two other tournaments.

The remainder of coach Mary Kate Lynch's squad includes senior Aileen Jeong, who averaged 78.86 strokes over seven fall rounds, junior Rebecca Markunas, sophomore Angela Ding and freshman, Alexis Carras.

Following the Kiawah Island Spring Classic, Lehigh will head west for spring break and will compete at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational March 14-15 in St. George, Utah. After that comes the Hoya Invitational, April 8-9; the Navy Spring Invitational, April 13-14, and finally, the Patriot League Championship, hosted by Richmond, April 20-21.

The Kiawah Island Spring Classic will be contested in 54 holes over three days. Sunday and Monday's first two rounds will feature morning and afternoon waves with shotgun starts at 8:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday's final round will be contested over both courses with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
