Mountain Hawks post two podium finishes on day one of Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Lehigh sits in fourth place after day one of the Patriot League Championship meet, earning 16 total team points. The Mountain Hawks had two podium finishes on the first day of the meet. Navy currently sits in first place in the competition with 42.5 total points. Army and Bucknell are also ahead of the Mountain Hawks after the first day of competition.
In the pole vault, junior Joseph Kelly finished in third place, jumping a 5.10m (16' 8.75") behind Bucknell's Matthew Fay and Navy's Stefano Pineda.
The 4x800m relay team of David Fletcher, Nicholas Crociata, Sean Brown and Kyle Kirk also earned a third place finish with a final time of 7:34:35.
Junior Jeffrey Kirshenbaum finished fifth in the 5000m with a time of 14:51.25, earning four points for Lehigh's overall score.
Sophomore Anastasios Mouzakis earned a team point with an eighth place finish in the weight throw, with a distance of 17.20m (56' 5.25").
Junior Kyle Sult sits in second place in the heptathlon after four events with a score of 2738 points, trailing only Navy's Ben Stewart, who sits at 2918. Sult won the 60m dash in the heptathlon with a time of 7.26.
In addition to his strong start to the heptathlon, Sult qualified for Sunday's finals in the 60m hurdles with a qualifying time of 8.34, which was a personal record and seventh-fastest.
Senior Max Jordan earned a personal record in the pole vault, vaulting a 4.65m (15' 3") which was good for ninth place. In the 60m hurdles, freshman Michael Nardelli also earned a personal record with a time of 8.54.
The Patriot League Championship meet will wrap up Sunday, as the competition will be streamed on the Patriot League Network beginning at 11:45 a.m. Live results will also be available.
