HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lehigh women's cross country team battled a fifth-place finish at the Patriot League Championships on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks had two runners finish inside the top-20. In front of a jam-packed crowd, the runners battled cold temperatures and muddy conditions.

"Disappointed! We went in with a different outcome in mind," said head coach Debbie Utesch. "Everything we set out to do, a different team did it. We didn't complete what our intent was."

The Terriers of Boston used its depth to capture the team crown at the Harry. H Lang Cross Country Course. The Terriers edged the Bucknell Bison for the top spot. Despite having four runners inside the top-10, the Bison were edged by the Terriers.

Senior Diana Hammerstone proved why she is one of the best runners in the area, as the senior fought and clawed her way to a ninth-place finish with a time of 22:20.0. With the finish, Hammerstone was awarded All-Patriot League Second Team.

"I thought Diana ran a gritty race," claimed Utesch. "She's proven to be a top performer in the Patriot League. This is now her second straight year being named All-League."

Junior Susie Poore just missed out on being named All-League, as she was the second Lehigh finisher and finished 15th with a time of 22:44.0. Jade Sessions finished third among the Brown and White, as Sessions finished 21st with a time of 22:51.60.

"What a valiant effort for Susie, she remained being a consistent runner, while Jade used her leg speed at the end. Both women have really been coming on for us lately." added Utesch.

Freshman Andrea Miller continued her strong second half performance with a 30th place finish. Miller was the fourth Mountain Hawk to cross the line at 23:12.30. Rounding out the top-5 for Lehigh, senior Ashleigh Crawford finished 32nd at 23:13.70.

Also for Lehigh, senior Hannah Bonaguidi finished 33rd at 23:14.50, while Nicole Abbondandelo was the seventh Brown and White runner to cross the line in 40th with a time of 23:21.80.

"I thought Ashleigh Crawford made a great point after the race today. She said that we've had a good season, but this race is not necessarily reflective on the efforts that they've put into the season"

Up next, the Mountain Hawks will host the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in two weeks. The race will be held at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course on Friday, Nov. 15
