Bethlehem, Pa. – As the season winds down for the Lehigh women's cross country team, the races keep on betting bigger and bigger. Well, early Friday will be no difference as the Mountain Hawks will host the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.

The women's 6K race will begin at 11:00 a.m., before the men's race at 12:00 p.m. There will be 31 teams competing on the women's side and the Brown and White will start in the seventh starting box.

Last time out, the Mountain Hawks didn't complete their goal at the Patriot League Championships. Ultimately, Lehigh finished fifth and only managed to place two runners inside the top-20.

Despite the underwhelming outcome, the Brown and White are ready to race on Friday, expecting a better performance from everyone at their own course. "There is no better opportunity to finish your season at the NCAA regional level on your own course," head coach Debbie Utesch said. "They have trained on this terrain all season and know how to navigate each kilometer."

Entering the race, the Mountain Hawks are currently ranked 14th in the Mid-Atlantic region.

"For us it's simple, our goal is to be better than where we're at in the rankings," stated Utesch. "Navy, Bucknell and Delaware are right in front of us and that's who we are definitely targeting."

Throughout their season, the Mountain Hawks have had consistency with their top finishers. Expect to see Diana Hammerstone, Susie Poore and Hannah Bonaguidi pace the Brown and White, while Ashleigh Crawford, Jade Sessions, Andrea Miller and Nicole Abbondandelo will look to move up through the field.

"She's (Diana) an experienced leader for us and has stepped up big-time for us in the last two Patriot League Championships. Then Susie is coming off just missing being named All-Patriot League in her first NCAA level competition. This is a great challenge for her to compete at this level and continue her breakout season."

Last year, the Mountain Hawks recorded a 13th place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
