BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh field hockey team looks to bounce back from a tough skid when it hits the road for games at Bucknell on Saturday (12 p.m.) and Lock Haven on Sunday (1 p.m.). Both games can be seen live online, through the Patriot League Network and YouTube, respectively. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 4-1 defeat vs. American and 2-1 loss against LIU Brooklyn, entering this weekend's contests at 5-5 overall, 1-1 in Patriot League play.

On Saturday, Lehigh played a competitive contest against perennial league power American. The Mountain Hawks trailed 1-0 at the half, but the Eagles scored two early third-quarter goals to open a 3-0 advantage. Lehigh did score with just over a minute left in the third quarter, but American added an insurance score in the fourth.

In the end, the Mountain Hawks scored a goal vs. American in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2006-07. Lehigh went on to score in the fourth quarter vs. Long Island, its 10th straight game with a goal to begin the season. Freshman Sarah Bonthuis scored with just 1:01 left in the fourth quarter, pulling Lehigh within 2-1 and giving the team a chance until the final buzzer.

Bucknell is also 5-5 on the year, and also 1-1 in league play. The Bison won at Boston University in their league opener while falling at American by a 3-1 final. Last time out, Bucknell dropped a 3-2 overtime final at Villanova. Emily Doyle leads the Bison in goals (7) and points (14) while Brittany Wellwerth owns three goals and two assists for eight points. Olivia Harris has played every minute in goal, tallying a 1.67 goals against average and 75.7 save percentage.

Bucknell leads the all-time series with Lehigh, 22-21-1, which includes seven straight victories. The Mountain Hawks' last win was in 2011, a 1-0 Lehigh victory. The Mountain Hawks' last win at Bucknell was in 2006 by a 3-1 final.

Lock Haven enters a Friday showdown VCU 5-6 overall, 3-1 in Atlantic 10 play. The Bald Eagles most recently won at La Salle 1-0 to snap a two-game losing skid. Lock Haven's other A-10 wins have come vs. Davidson and Richmond, both 2-1 victories – in a shootout and overtime. Jazmin Palma leads the team in goals (3) and points (8) while Tia Judy has tallied two goals and two assists for six points. Joaquina Orlandini has started every game in goal, tallying a 1.43 GAA and 70.2 save percentage.

The Bald Eagles hold a 9-1 all-time edge vs. Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks' win was in 2013, but Lock Haven has won the next three since. Last season, Lock Haven captured a 3-1 victory.

After this weekend, the Mountain Hawks return home next Friday (Oct. 18) to host rival Lafayette at 7 p.m.
