BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off a three-game sweep of Lafayette, the Lehigh softball team will play its next nine games away from Leadership Park, beginning with a Wednesday contest at Fordham. Wednesday's meeting between the defending Patriot League and Atlantic 10 champions was originally scheduled to be a doubleheader, but due to recent inclement weather with more forecast for Wednesday will now be a single game beginning at 4 p.m.
Lehigh (9-17) is riding its longest winning streak of the season after outscoring Lafayette 13-2 in a three-game sweep at Leadership Park. Sophomore Parker Boyd earned a pair of victories in the circle, allowing two runs on six hits in 14 innings with 12 strikeouts, while junior Emily Sorem threw Lehigh's first shutout of the season, scattering five hits in the Mountain Hawks' 4-0 win in the middle game of the series on Saturday.
Offensively, senior Nicole Yozzo went 5-for-10 with four stolen bases in the three games. Senior Katie Schultz and freshman Allyson Dibsie both went 4-for-8, with Dibsie delivering two doubles and driving in a run in all three games.
Sophomore Reva Alderman capped the weekend sweep with a two-run home run, her second two-run homer of the week. Alderman owns both Lehigh home runs this season and with 11 RBIs ranks second on the team to classmate Mary-Hannah Smith (12).
Fordham enters Wednesday's game at 15-16 overall and is 5-1 in the Atlantic 10. The Rams won two of three games at Saint Joseph's over the weekend and also picked up a 3-2 win over a strong Hofstra team last week. Fordham won the Atlantic 10 last season and went 1-2 at the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional.
Chelsea Skrepenak has been the top hitter for Fordham at .351 to go along with three home runs and 12 RBIs. Freshman Paige Rauch has been a dual threat, with 30 runs scored, six home runs and 23 RBIs to go along with a .287 average, while also leading Fordham with a 1.90 ERA in the pitcher's circle. Madi Shaw has been the top run producer with eight home runs and 24 RBIs.
Madie Aughinbaugh has thrown the most innings in the circle for the Rams and owns a 7-6 record and 3.34 ERA with 58 strikeouts and 11 walks in 86 innings of work.
Lehigh holds an 18-12 lead in the all-time series. The teams split a doubleheader last year at Leadership Park with Lehigh winning game one 4-1 and Fordham taking the nightcap 6-1.
Following Wednesday's game, Lehigh will head to Boston University for a three-game weekend series with a doubleheader set for Saturday and a single game Sunday with start times both days set for noon.
