Lehigh moves up on final day to finish 10th at William & Mary Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Rain and wind led to tough scoring conditions on the final day of the William & Mary Intercollegiate but after beginning the day in 12th place, the Lehigh women's golf team moved up to 10th place out of 15 teams Tuesday on the River Course at the Kingsmill Resort. The Mountain Hawks shot a final round 333 to finish at 969 (310-326-333).
 
On a day when most players in the field struggled to break 80, junior Reagan Jahn shot 80 to lead Lehigh in the final round and for the 54 hole tournament. Jahn tied for 23rd place at 236 (81-75-80). Senior Megan Moylan was Lehigh's No. 2 finisher and posted the low round of the tournament for the Mountain Hawks with an opening round 73. Moylan finished at 242 (73-80-89) and tied for 34th place.
 
Sophomore Minuette Laessig finished two strokes behind Moylan at 244 (75-86-83) and tied for 41st place, while classmate Rebecca Markunas tied for 65th place at 252 (81-85-86).
 
Rounding out Lehigh's scoring team was freshman Alexis Browne, who finished in a tie for 75th place at 263 (84-95-84).
 
Freshman Angela Ding remained the low scorer among individuals tying for 34th at 242 (80-75-87).
 
Akron and St. John's tied for the low round Tuesday at 311, with the Zips moving to up to claim the team title by six strokes over the Red Storm. The Zips finished at 911 (302-298-311), while 36-hole leader Richmond finished third.
 
Two players managed to shoot 73 Tuesday in the treacherous conditions. Kaitleen Shee of St. John's was the individual medalist at three over par 219 (72-74-73) as she defeated two players by three strokes.
 
The Mountain Hawks will return to the course at the FDU Checkmate Challenge, March 31-April 1 in Galloway, N.J.
