Lehigh Women Come Up Short Against Bucknell in Home Finale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In their final home and Patriot League dual meet of the season, the Lehigh suffered a tough 171-129 loss to Bucknell Saturday afternoon in Jacobs Pool. The Mountain Hawks compiled six victories on the day as they are now 6-2 overall this season with a 4-1 record against Patriot League opponents.
 
Lehigh dominated the 200 freestyle as the Mountain Hawks went 1-2-3 with Meghan Thompson leading the way with a season-best time of 1:54.23. Ann Foley placed second (1:54.60) and Julianne Koch rounded out the top-three (1:55.30). Thompson has won the 200 free in back-to-back meets.
 
Sydney Bornstein continued her dominance in the 200 butterfly as she has now won the event in all seven of the dual meets this seasons. She captured the top spot again on Saturday with a winning time of 2:05.01.
 
The Mountain Hawks once again shined in the 50 freestyle as they took the top two spots. Payton Miles racked up her fifth win of the season and her second in consecutive meets with her winning time of 24.25. Foley grabbed second place with a time of 24.54 and has finished in the top-two four times this season.
 
Foley captured a victory of her own as she placed first in the 100 freestyle with a winning time of 52.65. Foley has won the 100 free in the last four-straight meets. Miles placed third (53.14) and Thompson came in fourth (53.54).
 
Thompson notched her second win of the day as she touched the wall first in the 500 free to capture her fourth win of the season in the event. Sam Gallego placed third (5:13.48) and Tori Connolly came in fourth (5:15.88).
 
Lehigh closed out the day with a strong finish as Foley, Koch, Thompson and Miles combined to win the 200 free relay. The foursome combined for the winning time of 1:36.77, finishing exactly one second off the pool record pace.
 
On the boards, Lehigh claimed two of the top-three spots in the 1-meter dive as Megan Fennell placed second with a score of 234.07 and Rayna Smilowitz came in third with a score of 226.27. Fennell also placed second in the 3-meter dive (230.54), while Smilowitz placed fourth (202.20).
 
The Mountain Hawks close out the regular season with one last dual meet next Saturday with a trip to Princeton. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
