
Lehigh set for busy weekend at Bucknell, home vs. Yale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team will remain in Patriot League play when it heads to Bucknell on Friday, before returning home Sunday for a nonleague matchup against Yale. Friday's game is set for 7 p.m. on the Patriot League Network while Sunday's gametime is set for 1 p.m., with live stats available for the contest. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 4-0 defeat to No. 22 American on Friday in a game which saw them settle down nicely after a slow start.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead just 10:21 into Friday's game, but Lehigh allowed just one goal over the next 59:37 before American tacked on its fourth goal with just two seconds remaining. Lehigh allowed only 15 shots for the game (11 on goal). Included in the Mountain Hawks' seven saves was a first-half defensive stop from freshman Lenke Havas.

Lehigh was shut-out for four straight games from Aug. 27 through Sept. 8 before responding with goals in three straight contests (one vs. Ball State, one at Holy Cross and four at Siena) heading into this past Friday's game vs. American. Sophomore Amanda Boyer led Lehigh's offense with two shots (one on goal).

Friday's game at Bucknell could prove critical for the Patriot League standings as Lehigh enters 0-2 in league play while the Bison are 0-1.

Bucknell is 3-7 overall, coming off a 4-1 loss at Maryland and 3-2 shootout defeat to Drexel. The Bison are 2-2 at home, compared to 1-5 on the road. Bucknell's Patriot League defeat also came against American and also ended with a 4-0 final. Brittany Willwerth leads the team in points with 15 (six goals, three assists) while Lexi Quick owns nine points (three goals, three assists). Â Stephanie Dressler has tallied Bucknell's only defensive save, to go with five points (two goals, one assist). Both her goals are game-winners while her 23 shots lead the team. Emily Finn has started all 10 games in goal, recording a 3.12 goals against average and 0.663 save percentage.

Lehigh leads the all-time series against Bucknell, 21-20-1, but the Bison have won five straight. The Mountain Hawks' last win came in 2011 via a 1-0 final. Lehigh's last win at Bucknell came in 2006, 3-1.

Yale stands 4-3, heading into a Friday matchup at Princeton. The Bulldogs have defeated Sacred Heart (6-2), Hofstra (5-2), Central Michigan (2-0) and Liberty (1-0 in overtime). Carol Middough leads the team in goals (6) and points (13) while Bridget Condie is second with three goals and six points. Alex MacKay leads the Bulldogs with two defensive saves. Sydney Terroso has played every minute in goal, recording a 1.94 GAA and 0.797 save percentage.

The Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 4-1 with all the meetings coming between 1994 and 1998. Lehigh won the first contest in 1994, 2-1, then the last time they met, Yale was victorious, 2-0.
