BETHLEHEM, Pa – Lehigh freshman Brad DeMassa has been horned by the Patriot League as the men's Rookie of the Week after his performance this past Friday at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
DeMassa finished third in the Mountain Hawks pack at Friday's meet, placing 66th overall out of 156 finishers in a solid field that featured runners from three nationally ranked schools and seven ranked teams from the Northeast Region. His time of 25:35.5 was his best 8K time of the season and placed ninth among freshman. His performance helped lift Lehigh to an eighth place finish out of 18 in the highly competitive meet.
For the season, the Ridgefield, Conn. native has been a part of Lehigh's top seven in two meets thus far, plus was a part of the field that led the Mountain Hawks to a 16-47 triumph over Lafayette at the school's annual dual meet. The honor is the second weekly award for a Lehigh runner this season, following Patrick Reilly's Runner of the Week accolade on Sept. 6.
Lehigh will host the 44th Annual Paul Short Run this Friday at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
