
Mountain Hawks finish strong, take third at Navy Fall Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – A strong final round of 303 wasn't enough to move the Lehigh women's golf team up in the standings as the Mountain Hawks finished third in the 12-team Navy Fall Invitational, which wrapped-up Sunday at the Navy Academy Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks' posted a 54-hole score of 925 (313-309-303) which put them 10 strokes behind host Navy, which finished second.

Richmond ran away with the team title, posting two sub-300 rounds to finish at 886 (303-289-294), to top the Mids by 29 strokes. Boston U. finished fourth, giving the four Patriot League schools the top four team finishes in the 12-team field. The Spiders, defending Patriot League champions, had five of the top seven individual finishers, led by medalist Sophie DiPetrillo who finished at one over par 217 (77-69-71).

Lehigh's top finisher was junior Aileen Jeong, who shot one over par 73 on Sunday to finish at 229 (77-79-73) and claim 10th place. Senior Megan Moylan was one stroke behind, tying for 11th place at 230 (79-75-76). Junior Reagan Jahn was Lehigh's low player through 36 holes but shot 80 on Sunday to drop to 232 (78-74-80) and tie for 17th place.

Sophomore Minuette Laessig bounced back from a second round 83 with a 75 on Sunday to move into a tie for 24th place at 237 (79-83-75). Lehigh's fifth scoring player was freshman Alexis Browne, who tied for 32nd place at 240 (80-81-79).

Lehigh also had two individuals in the field, with freshman Angela Ding tying for 37th place at 241 (79-79-83) and sophomore Rebecca Markunas claiming 67th place at 282 (92-96-94).

The Mountain Hawks will now have nearly a month off from competition before they head to the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I. Oct. 15-16.
