Lehigh Men Notch Third Straight League Win

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks extended their win streak to three matches, with all wins over Patriot League opponents following a 4-1 defeat of Boston University on Friday evening inside Lewis Tennis Center. The win marks the first victory for the Brown and White over BU since the Terriers joined the Patriot League. Lehigh is now 5-10 overall and 3-1 in the league. Boston falls to 7-14 overall and 1-1 in league play.
The Mountain Hawks took two out of three matches in doubles play before play was suspended at the second flight. The top pairing of George Cooper and Graham Lehman battled to a 6-4 victory to clinch the doubles point and improve their record to 5-2 overall and a stellar 4-0 in league play.
The Terriers knotted up the score at 1-1 after Lucas Bombonatti defeated Cooper in two sets at No. 1 singles. After the loss was recorded, Lehigh would march on to victory at the next three flights.
Jack Petersen put Lehigh back in the lead as he scored a three-set victory at the second flight over Jay Leelavanich. Petersen is now 5-10 overall and improves to 3-1 in league play after three-straight league wins.
LU extended the lead following another three-set victory, this time by freshman Jack Martin-Dyer at the third singles flight. Martin-Dyer improves to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the league following a three-match win streak.
Christopher Auteri clinched the match win for Lehigh with a three-set victory of his own at the fourth flight. Auteri scored close victories in the first and third sets over Mario Sandoval to come out victorious. Auteri is now 2-4 overall and evened up his league record at 2-2.
The Mountain Hawks will look to keep the momentum going as they remain home for another Patriot League match on Sunday at 12 p.m. against Army West Point.
