Mountain Hawks look to ride momentum from recent title into Lafayette's Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off a first place finish in the Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday, the Lehigh men's golf team will return to action this weekend to compete in the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette at Silver Creek Country Club. The 36-hole event features single rounds of 18 holes Sunday and Monday with a practice round on Saturday.
At the Wildcat Invitational, sophomore Johnny Hsu shot three under par 139 to share individual medalist honors with two other players and lead Lehigh to its first team title since winning the Patriot League Championship in 2013. The Mountain Hawks finished ahead of last year's winner Cleveland State and host Villanova.
Junior Billy Johns finished tied for fourth at 141 (73-68), tallying four birdies in his final round.
In addition to Lehigh and rival Lafayette, the tournament features 16 other teams including Patriot League foes Colgate and Holy Cross. Bryant, Canisius, Drexel, Fordham, Hofstra, Manhattan, Monmouth, Niagara, Rider, Robert Morris, Saint Peter's, Villanova, Wagner, and UConn round out the rest of the field.
The course at Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown covers 6,655 yards and plays to a par of 72.
The Mountain Hawks finished sixth out of 19 teams in last year's tournament. Current sophomore Eamon Marone was Lehigh's top finisher, tying for 19th place at 153 while Hsu finished tied for 23rd place at 154.
Sunday's opening round will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a shotgun start while Monday's final round is slated for 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. Lafayette will offer live scoring on GolfStat.com.
Following this event, the Mountain Hawks will return to action on April 10 at the Finegan Invitational, hosted by La Salle.
