HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf shaved five strokes off its opening round score to finish with a total of 621 and tie for 11th place as the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational wrapped up Monday at Silver Creek Country Club. Junior Billy Johns led the way for the Mountain Hawks, shooting even par 72 on Monday while as a team, Lehigh shot 308 on Monday after opening with a 313.

Lehigh tied with Colgate for 11th place, sharing top honors among the four Patriot League teams in the field. Connecticut cruised to the team title with a final score of 582 (295-287), defeating Drexel and Bryant by 14 strokes.

Johns carded four birdies and four bogeys in his round of 72. Combined with an opening round 77 he tied for 11th place at 149, leading the way for the Mountain Hawks. Johns played the par 5 holes in an impressive five under par.

Sophomore Johnny Hsu was Lehigh's second highest finisher, tying for 27th place at 153 (77-76). Also carding a 76 on Monday was freshman Ryan Kelly, who tied for 49th place at 156 (80-76). Lehigh's other two scoring players both shot final rounds of 84. Freshman Owen Quinn tied for 84th place at 163 (79-84), while sophomore Lee Hammerschmidt was one stroke behind in a tie for 87th (80-84). Quinn made the only eagle of the tournament for Lehigh on the par 5 fifth hole.

Two Mountain Hawks competed as individuals, with sophomore Eamon Marone tying for 32nd place at 154 (76-78) and freshman Chris Pollan tying for 76th at 161 (78-83).

Individually, three players finished under par and all three tied for the lead after 18 holes at one under par 143: Villanova's Lucas Trim, Connecticut's Eric Dietrich and Anton Frondelius of Wagner. Frondelius eventually defeated Trim on the second playoff hole to capture individual medalist honors.

Next up for the Mountain Hawks will be the Finegan Invitational, hosted by La Salle, next Monday in Lafayette Hill, Pa.
