BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off its first loss in almost a month, the Lehigh men's basketball team will look to bounce back when it returns to Stabler Arena for its first home Patriot League game on Thursday vs. Loyola. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and will air locally on Service Electric 2 Sports and can be seen online through the Patriot League Network. The Mountain Hawks will look to build upon their 4-0 home record so far this season, facing a Loyola squad that enters 1-1 in the league and 7-6 overall.

This will mark the seventh opponent in as many seasons that Lehigh will face in its first Patriot League home game. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak in Patriot League home openers. Through two Patriot League games in 2016-17, Lehigh is the only team to play both its contests on the road.

Lehigh is coming off a 75-61 loss at Boston University Monday. The Terriers opened a nine-point halftime advantage, eventually opening a 23-point second-half lead. Boston University still led by 21 (63-42) with 7:41 remaining, but the Mountain Hawks wouldn't go away quietly. Lehigh outscored the Terriers 17-5 over the next four minutes. A three-pointer from junior Brandon Alston pulled the Mountain Hawks within nine (68-59) with 3:47 still on the clock, but that's as close as they would get. Lehigh had multiple chances to pull closer, but didn't score again until the final minute as Boston University wrapped up the victory, improving to 7-1 at home this season while handing the Mountain Hawks their third straight loss at Case Gymnasium.

One of the reasons for Lehigh's comeback attempt was its defense, which recorded four steals during the 3:54 span, with junior Kahron Ross recording two and senior Austin Price and Alston each tallying one. Ross ended the game with a career-high four steals while also shooting the ball well, posting 16 points behind 5-of-10 from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point range. Senior Tim Kempton also scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Price finished with 11 points; Price began the 17-5 run with five straight points. In the end, Lehigh shot just 34.9 percent from the field, a season low, while hitting just 8-of-30 three-pointers (26.7 percent). Kempton did move from 14th to 12th in Patriot League history for career points (currently 1,662) while Ross dished three assists to move into a tie for fourth place in school history with 437 in his career.

The loss snapped a 10-game regular season winning streak against Patriot League opponents, dating back to last season. The streak began last year against Loyola, Thursday's opponent.

Loyola's three-game losing streak was snapped at the hands of Lafayette on Monday, 78-69. Previously, the Greyhounds had beaten Binghamton (90-85 in overtime), UMass-Lowell (69-60) and American (68-66). Loyola still enters Thursday's game winners of five of its last seven games, also beating Stony Brook (71-70) and Mount St. Mary's (64-57). Jarred Jones leads the Greyhounds in scoring and rebounding, with averages of 16.0 and 7.5, respectively. Preseason All-Patriot League honoree Andre Walker is second in scoring (14.6 points per contest) and leads the team in assists (52 through 13 games). James Fives averages 8.0 points while Andrew Kostecka comes in at 7.5. The Greyhounds shoot 32.2 percent from three-point range, while allowing opponents to shoot just 29.7 percent.

Lehigh leads the all-time series against Loyola 8-7. The sides have alternated wins ever since Loyola joined the Patriot League for the 2013-14 season. The Mountain Hawks are 2-1 against the Greyhounds in Stabler Arena over that span. Prior to meeting as league opponents, the teams previously played on Nov. 26, 1988, an 86-72 Lehigh victory. The sides first met in 1912-13, a 41-19 Lehigh victory. Loyola's first win was in 1915-16 by a 35-15 final.

The Mountain Hawks remain home on Sunday when they host American at 2 p.m. Tickets are available and can be purchased online by clicking here.
