BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two Lehigh Mountain Hawks have earned weekly honors from the Patriot League after their performances at this past weekend's Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet. Freshman Matt Kravitz has been named the league's Men's Rookie of the Week and sophomore Kaitlyn Toman was honored as the Women's Field Athlete of the Week. It is the first weekly honor of the season for both athletes.
Â
Kravitz earns the first weekly honor of his career after winning the mile run at the Lehigh-Laf dual on Saturday, breaking the tape in 4:14.75. His adjusted time of 4:11.54 ranks fourth in the Patriot League this season and is an IC4A qualifier. He was named Lehigh's Track Athlete of the Meet and helped the Brown and White to a 107-74 win over Lafayette, the school's fourth in a row over their longtime rival.
Â
Toman takes home her first major weekly award after breaking the school record in the pole vault at 3.64 meters. Toman previously tied the school record of 3.60m at last year's Patriot League Championships, becoming a co-holder of the record that had stood since 2010. The new school benchmark is a collegiate PR for her in either indoor or outdoor competition. The vault is the fourth highest in the Patriot League this season and sits less than half an inch under the best mark in the league this season. Named the Field Athlete of the Meet, she helped Lehigh top Lafayette for the ninth straight season, 114-66.
Â
Lehigh has now had at least one major weekly award winner in all five weeks of the season thus far, and at least two winners in four of the five weeks. Lehigh has won 12 weekly awards this season, six on each side, which is the most in the league.
