BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a few tough games, the Lehigh field hockey team will look to bounce back this weekend when it hosts Bucknell in the Patriot League opener Saturday (12 p.m.) before also welcoming Big East foe Providence on Sunday (1 p.m.). Lehigh is coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime defeat at La Salle. Both games this weekend can be seen live, for free, through the Patriot League Network.
Â
Against the Explorers, senior Kassidy Green scored first just 7:48 into the game, but La Salle evened the score less than 10 minutes later. After a long stretch without a goal, La Salle netted the game-winner less than 30 seconds into overtime.
Â
Senior Julia Ward impressed vs. the Explorers, finishing with eight saves which included five in the second half. Green posted a game-high four shots (all on goal) while sophomore Teresa Carotenuto fired a pair of shots on goal. The second half saw up-and-down action for both sides, with big momentum swings, but neither team could score the go-ahead goal in regulation.
Â
Green's goal ended a long scoreless drought for the Mountain Hawks, marking their first goal since the first half of the season-opening win over Rider. Green, Carotenuto and senior Marissa Glatt own Lehigh's goals this season while Ward has a 2.80 goals against average and .736 save percentage. Sophomore Lindsay Alvarez has made two defensive saves while junior Jackie Renda owns one, which was made Sunday at La Salle.
Â

Â
The Mountain Hawks hold a 21-19-1 edge in the all-time series, but the Bison have won the last four meetings.
