BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team will travel to Villanova on Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup with the Wildcats at 7 p.m. at Jake Nevin Field House.
The Mountain Hawks (3-6) are looking to rebound from a tough trip to the Bama Bash last weekend where they went 0-3 against a challenging group of competition. Lehigh suffered two of its losses in three sets to Southern Miss and Alabama, two teams both picked to finish in the top-half of their respected conferences.
Freshman Jessica Donaldson and junior Kelly Bennett led the scoring effort last weekend as they combined for 44 kills, while sophomore Megan Polak paced the squad with 61 assists. On the defensive front, sophomore Emily Develle recorded a team-best 25 digs and freshman Emily Poole accounted for 11 blocks.
Villanova will open its 2016 home slate in Tuesday night's matchup with the Mountain Hawks. The Wildcats enter the contest with a 6-3 record and are currently riding a three-match win streak. Those last three wins all came via 3-0 sweeps at the Fairfield Invitational last weekend where Villanova squared off against James Madison, Sacred Heart and Fairfield. Â
The Wildcats were picked to finish fourth out of 10 teams in the Big East Conference after finishing the 2015 season with an overall record of 25-9 and a trip to the NCAA postseason. Junior outside hitter Allie Loitz was tabbed a preseason All-Big East selection.
Villanova owns a 27-6 all-time record against the Mountain Hawks, including a 3-0 win over Lehigh last season at Leeman-Turner Arena.
Both live stats and live video will be provided by Villanova for Tuesday's contest.
