LEWISBURG, Pa. – A solid opening day at the Bucknell Golf Club has the Lehigh women's golf team in the hunt after Saturday's opening 36 holes at the Patriot League Championship. The Mountain Hawks shot 307 after Saturday's morning round and sat in third place after 18 holes but an afternoon 312 moved Lehigh into second place in the six team field at 619.
The Mountain Hawks trail Richmond by 10 strokes. The Spiders opened with a 303 on Saturday and their second round 306 beat the next best team by six shots. Defending champion Boston University sits in third place, one stroke behind Lehigh, while host Bucknell is fourth at 626. Navy sits in sixth place at 632 while Holy Cross is at 693.
Three Lehigh players finished day one in the top ten individually. Freshmen Aileen Jeong and Raegan Jahn led Lehigh in the opening round, shooting five over par 75. Jeong shot 77 in the afternoon and sits in third place at 152 while Jahn shot 81 and is tied for ninth at 156. Jeong is also one of six players in the field to card four birdies on Saturday. Jahn led Lehigh and ranked third in the field with 21 pars in her 36 holes.
Junior Elizabeth McGarrigle led Lehigh in the afternoon round with a 76. McGarrigle sits in fifth place at 154 (78-76).
Senior Nicole Feierberg bounced back from a tough opening round 82 with a second round 78. Feierberg's 160 is good for a tie for 18th place.
Sophomore's Megan Moylan and Casey Farmer sit in 24th and a tie for 26th place respectively. Moylan broke 80 in round one but sits at 164 (79-85) after 36 holes, while Farmer is at 167 after rounds of 84 and 83.
Boston University's Adela Cejnarova holds the individual lead at seven over par 147 (72-75). Cejnarova leads Richmond's Jessica Lydia by two strokes, while Jeong is five off the pace. Those three will comprise the final group off the first tee on Sunday.
