EASTON, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field team came up short in a 101-98 loss to rival Lafayette on Sunday. Senior Robert Hugin took home Track Athlete of the Meet honors after winning the 400 meter hurdles and junior Daniel Boardman was named the Field Athlete of the Meet for Lehigh after winning the long jump, taking second in the high jump and fifth in the javelin.

"We never really found our groove," said head coach Matt Utesch. "We swept a lot of events and we didn't get wins or points in other events. If you don't win them, then you have to get second or third place."

Lehigh did grab clean sweeps in five events, including in the 1500 meter run as junior Alexander Fitzgerald broke the tape in 4:05.86, followed by junior Ryan Cooney in second place (4:06.44) and senior Evan Hardy in third (4:14.72).

The Mountain Hawks swept the top three spots once again in the 5K as freshman Brian Arita captured his second 5,000m victory of the season in PR time of 15:05.19. Sophomore Patrick Reilly (15:07.47) followed closely behind in second and sophomore John Tolbert (15:16.08) rounded out the top three.

Hugin's win (57.54) in the 400m hurdles paved the way for a Lehigh sweep as senior Andrew Culkin (57.84) and junior Tom Troxell (58.33) finished second and third, respectively.

Fritz Isaac claimed first place in the 110m hurdles and in the mid-distance, freshman Clay Stabolepszy led the Mountain Hawks to a victory in the 800 meter run (1:56.71).

Michael Camera led the team with a third place (11.15) finish in the 100m dash. Emre Soybas led Lehigh in third place of the 200 and 400m dashes. The 3,000m steeplechase saw Scott Mason (9:35.63) lead the Brown and White in second place, followed by Henry Paul in third place.

In the field, grad student Adeolu Adesida (1.99m) led the sweep for Lehigh in the long jump with Boardman (1.94m) and Ryan Givens (1.94m) following right behind in second and third. Daniel Reichenbach picked up the win in the triple jump for the second consecutive meet (13.95m) to help Lehigh grab another sweep, as Cody Israel and Michael Gooding completed the top three.

Boardman's solid day continued with his long jump victory (6.69m), where Camera joined him on the podium in second place.

Junior Lucas Warning took home the shot put title by 1.47 meters over the second place finisher, winning the event with a toss of 16.37 meters.

Seniors Tyler John and Beau Whitman placed second and third, respectively, in the pole vault, both clearing the bar at 4.30 meters. Kevin Sheldon led the Mountain Hawks in the discus (3rd/36.08m) and javelin (4th/45.83m), while Christopher Foley captured third place in the hammer throw (23.88m).

Lehigh's next meet will be Friday-Saturday April 15-16 at the Greyhound Invitational at Moravian College.
