In their final meet before the Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh track and field programs will both compete at the annual Bucknell Tune-Up in Lewisburg, Pa. this Friday. The Mountain Hawks and Bison will be joined by Division II schools Bloomsburg, Seton Hill and Shippensburg at the unscored meet, which will serve as the final chance for participants to improve their rankings for their upcoming league championship meets.
Last year, the Mountain Hawk men claimed seven first place tallies at the Tune-Up, including a pair of first place performances from Daniel Boardman in the long jump (6.60m) and high jump (2.00m). Michael Camera took the top spot in the triple jump (13.25m) and Tyler John captured a win in the pole vault (4.50m). On the track, James Clements earned first place in the 5,000m dash and the 4x400 meter relay team of Tom Troxell, Seamus Cullinane, Robert Smith and Clements added a second place finish.
On the women' side, Lehigh notched a trio of wins as Courtney Avery and Brittany Le Jouan tied for first in the high jump, with Le Jouan setting a then-personal best leap of 1.65m. Hanna Brosky took home first place in the 500 meter dash and Katie Hatler broke the tape in the 60m hurdles.
Lehigh's last competed at the Villanova Invitational and Armory Track Invitational last weekend. Patrick Reilly set a new personal best time (14:33.98) in the 5,000 meter run while qualifying for the IC4A/ECAC Championships. Tyler John placed third in the pole vault (4.55m) at the Armory and Lucas Warning was victorious for the third time in his last four meets in the shot put (16.93m) at the Villanova Invite.
On the women's side, Marissa Karl and Clare Severe each set new personal records and IC4A qualifying times in the 1,000 meter run at the Armory Invite. Sophomore Laura Barnes set new PRs in the 1,500m run (4:47.02) and mile run (5:06.41). On the Ocean Breeze Track at the Villanova Invite, Hatler turned in her fastest 60m hurdle time of the year in prelims (8.85), Kiana Wright set a new PR and finished fourth in the long jump (5.44m), and high jumpers Courtney Avery (1.70m), Brittany Le Jouan (1.65m) and Gabrielle Wardle (1.65m) took up second thru fourth places.
All of Friday's action is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. from Gerhard Fieldhouse with the women's weight throw. Track events will begin at 5:30 with the women's distance medley relay.
