BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following its strongest defensive effort of the season, the Lehigh men's basketball team will head to Stony Brook on Tuesday to face the Seawolves. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and will air live online via ESPN3. The Mountain Hawks scored their fewest points of the season against Robert Morris Saturday but they also allowed their fewest as the strong defense helped Lehigh improve to 2-0 at home and 3-4 overall.

The Mountain Hawks continued to show balanced scoring on Saturday with four players reaching double-figure points (all finishing between 11 and 15 points). Senior Tim Kempton led the way with 15 points and 10 rebounds, 12 points and seven boards coming in the second half. It marked Kempton's fourth double-double of the season and 37th of his career. He helped cap off Lehigh's win with an emphatic dunk with 2:25 remaining which gave the Mountain Hawks a 55-50 lead, on the way to a 64-58 victory.

Kempton began the day tied for 10th place in school history and 27th in Patriot League history with 1,524 career points. At the end of the day, he stood all alone in ninth and 22nd, respectively, passing multiple standouts in Lehigh and league history. Junior Kahron Ross added 11 points, as did sophomore Kyle Leufroy while senior Austin Price scored 10. Leufroy was an efficient 4-of-6 from the field, 1-of-1 from three-point range and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Price's game-high seven assists tied a career high. Saturday marked the first time Lehigh scored less than 76 points in a game this season.

Defensively, Lehigh helped force 18 Robert Morris turnovers as the Mountain Hawks turned the ball over fewer times than their opponent for the first time all season. Price led the way with three steals while Kempton and Ross each had two. Kempton posted a career-high tying three blocked shots. He's recorded three blocks three times in his career, all coming within the last calendar year. Sophomore Matt Holba played a key role in the victory, finishing with eight points, eight rebounds, two blocks, a steal and assist. He led the Mountain Hawks with six first-half points.

The win was Lehigh's 18th in its last 22 games against Northeast Conference foes. The Mountain Hawks are also set to play at Mount St. Mary's of the NEC this coming Saturday. Lehigh has now won seven straight regular season home games, along with nine of its last 10 home games overall. The Mountain Hawks will have two more nonleague home games this month, vs. Saint Francis (Pa.) on Dec. 12 and Cabrini on Dec. 22.

Stony Brook marks Lehigh's third game this season against a 2016 NCAA Tournament team. Stony Brook graduated several key pieces from its America East Championship team last season, highlighted by Jameel Warney (who averaged 19.8 points and 10.8 rebounds last season) and Carson Puriefoy (who averaged 14.9 points and 3.2 assists). So far this year, the Seawolves are 2-5, most recently earning a 77-75 win over Northeastern. The team also defeated Hampton while its most recent loss came against Loyola out of the Patriot League. Tyrell Sturdivant leads the Seawolves in both scoring (13.7) and rebounding (7.4) while Lucas Woodhouse has posted 12.4 points and a team-leading 4.7 assists per contest. Roland Nyama is also in double figures at 10.4 points per contest. Following Saturday's games, Stony Brook stood 15th nationally in fewest turnovers per game (10.7) and 52nd in offensive rebounds per contest (13.29).

Last season, Lehigh and Stony Brook squared off for the first time since 2010 with the Seawolves coming out on top, 75-62 in a game in which Kempton didn't play due to injury. The Mountain Hawks still hold a 5-4 lead in the all-time series. Lehigh began the series with four wins in the first five games. The last time Lehigh played at Stony Brook was in 2010, a hard-fought 79-76 overtime victory. Tuesday will mark the Mountain Hawks' first-ever game at Stony Brook's new arena, Island Federal Credit Union Arena. Lehigh is 2-2 all-time at Stony Brook.

Following Tuesday's game, the Mountain Hawks will remain on the road on Saturday when they head to Mounst St. Mary's for a 4 p.m. opening tipoff. Lehigh returns home next Monday (Dec. 12) to host Saint Francis (Pa.) at 7 p.m.
