Lehigh closes fall season with fifth place showing at Pirate Invitational

BEDMINSTER, N.J. – After dealing with high winds and cold temperatures on Friday, scoring conditions improved Saturday, allowing the Lehigh women's golf team to improve its score by 38 strokes and move into fifth place as the Pirate Invitational wrapped-up at Trump National Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 318 on Saturday, fourth best in the 14 team field and finished at 674 (356-318).
 
Individually, sophomore Reagan Jahn was Lehigh's top finisher, tying for 12th place at 165 (87-78). Jahn led Lehigh with five birdies over the 36-hole event and her final round 78 was the lowest round of the weekend for the Mountain Hawks.
 
One stroke behind Jahn was senior Elizabeth McGarrigle, who shot 79 on Saturday to finish at 166 (87-79) and tie for 15th place.
 
Lehigh's No. 3 finisher was sophomore Aileen Jeong, who tied for 30th place at 171 (90-81), improving nine strokes from her Friday score.
 
Freshman Minuette Laessig improved 14 strokes from Friday and moved into 39th place with a final score of 174 (94-80).
 
The Mountain Hawks' fifth scoring player was junior Megan Moylan, who shot 176 (92-84) and tied for 43rd place.
 
South Dakota State claimed the team title with a final total of 632 (326-306), defeating Lamar by 14 strokes. Host Seton Hall claimed third place.
 
Individually, SDSU's Megan Mingo and Lamar's Olivia Le Roux tied for first at eight over par 152, with Mingo claiming the top spot via playoff.
 
The Pirate Invitational concludes Lehigh's fall campaign. The Mountain Hawks will open their spring season in March.
