
Mountain Hawks to wrap-up fall campaign at Pirate Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off winning the Lehigh Invitational, the Lehigh women's golf team will conclude its fall season this weekend with the Pirate Invitational. The event, hosted by Seton Hall, features a 14-team field for the two-day tournament that begins Friday from the par 72 Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
The Mountain Hawks shot 618 over the two day Lehigh Invitational on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. A final round 314 helped Lehigh hold off Georgetown by four strokes for the top spot. Individually, senior Elizabeth McGarrigle and sophomore Aileen Jeong tied for first at 10 over par 154, but McGarrigle claimed the tiebreaker as her final round 77 edged Jeong's 78 by one stroke. Freshman Minuette Laessig had a strong performance as well as she finished tied fourth at 156, highlighted by a final round 75 - the lowest round for any player in the field on Monday.
This is the fifth and final tournament for the Mountain Hawks this fall. In addition to the Lehigh Invitational, Lehigh's season has been highlighted by a fourth place finish out of 13 teams in the Tignanelli Towson Invitational and sixth place finish out of 16 teams in the Navy Fall Invitational.
Along with host Seton Hall and Lehigh, the 14-team field includes Albany, Central Connecticut State, Creighton, Farleigh Dickinson, Hartford, Harvard, Hofstra, Illinois State, Lamar, Long Island, Monmouth, Nebraska-Omaha, and South Dakota State.
This will be Lehigh's first time competing in the Pirate Invitational, which is contested on the New Course at Trump National Golf Club. The course plays 5902 yards to a par 72.
Action at the Pirate Invitational begins on Friday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. for the first 18 holes while the final 18 will be played on Saturday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. as well.
