Volleyball Set for Away and Home Patriot League Weekend Matches

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team is set for two Patriot League matches this weekend beginning with a road match at Bucknell on Friday night at 7 p.m. before returning home on Saturday to face Colgate at 4 p.m.

Live stream for both matches this weekend will be available on the Patriot League Network and live stats will also be provided for both matches.

The Mountain Hawks enter the weekend with a 12-13 overall record with a record of 7-4 in the Patriot League and are tied with Navy for fourth place in the conference standings. Lehigh ranks fifth in the conference with a hitting percentage of .187, but LU has averaged a percentage of .241 in the last six matches. Lehigh is 9-1 this season in matches with a .200 or better hitting percentage.

Freshman Julia Pressly has led the team in kills in each of the last four matches as she his hitting .168 for the season with a 2.56 kills-per-set average. Junior Kelly Bennett leads Lehigh and ranks third in the Patriot League with a .332 hitting percentage as she is averaging 2.02 kills per set. Freshman Lauren Bright has led the team in blocks in each of the last six matches and leads the team with 1.37 blocks per set this season.

After a five-match losing streak, Bucknell has fallen to 4-18 on the season with a 2-8 record in the Patriot League and ranks eighth in the conference standings. The Bison rank seventh in the conference with a team hitting percentage of .159 and rank third in the PL with a 2.06 blocks-per-set average.

Bridgette Holland leads the Bison in kills with 175 as she has a 2.13 kills-per-set average to go with a .212 hitting percentage. Selby Schnobrich leads the team in total assists with 511 and ranks seventh in the Patriot League with an average of 7.00 assists per set. Mimi Richards leads the team and ranks third in the Patriot League with 1.02 blocks per set.

Colgate ranks second in the Patriot League standings and is winners of its last five matches with an overall record of 12-9 and a conference record of 8-2. The Raiders rank second in the Patriot League in hitting percentage (.250), first in blocks per set (2.34) and third in kills per set (13.06).

Kathleen Harris leads Colgate and ranks fourth in the Patriot League with an average of 3.51 kills per set as she has 256 on the season. Taylor Flaherty leads the Patriot League with an average of 1.07 blocks per set as she has a team-high 76 total blocks on the season. Jaelah Hutchinson ranks fourth in the conference with 1.00 blocks-per-set average with a total of 70 blocks on the season.

Earlier this season, Lehigh defeated Bucknell by a score of 3-1 at home on September 30 and suffered a 3-0 defeat on the road at Colgate on October 1. The Mountain Hawks are 3-6 on the road this season and 7-3 at home. Bucknell is 2-10 on its home floor this season, while Colgate is 5-5 on the road.

The Mountain Hawks are 46-27 against the Bison in the all-time series and have won the last seven meetings. Colgate holds a 37-18 advantage over LU in the all-time series, but Lehigh has won the last two meetings at Leeman-Turner Arena.

Looking ahead, Lehigh will face American on Saturday, November 5 before taking to the road to face Army West Point and Holy Cross to close out the season on November 11-12.
