BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A second straight day of high winds made scoring difficult but the Lehigh women's golf team fought through the elements to win the Lehigh Invitational, which wrapped-up Monday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. The Mountain Hawks were locked in a tight battle with Georgetown all day long, but the Hoyas could only pull back two strokes after trailing by six at the start of Monday's final round.

Lehigh shot 314 on Monday to finish the 36-hole tournament at 618 (304-314). Georgetown finished four strokes off the pace at 622 (310-312), while Monmouth finished third at 649 (326-323).

Individually, senior Elizabeth McGarrigle and sophomore Aileen Jeong tied for the low total at 10 over par 154, but McGarrigle claimed individual medalist honors in the tiebreaker as her final round 77 edged Jeong's 78 by one stroke. Siena's Ashley Nguyen finished in third place at 155 (74-81).

McGarrigle became Lehigh's first individual medalist in a tournament since Crystal Lee won the Patriot League Championship in 2014. She shot back-to-back rounds of 77, which on Monday included key birdies on holes 11 and 15.

Jeong followed a 76 on Sunday with a 78 on Monday that included one birdie on the par five 15th hole.

Freshman Minuette Laessig also finished in the top five, tying for fourth place at 156. After an 81 on Sunday, Laessig carded the low round in the field on Monday with a three over par 75 that included 14 pars, plus a birdie on 15.

Lehigh's low player on Sunday, sophomore Reagan Jahn tied for 13th place at 159 (75-84). Jahn was two over through six holes on Monday before running into trouble on her next four holes. She rebounded with three birdies on the back nine but was unable to get back into contention.

Junior Megan Moylan also shot 84 on Monday and finished in a tie for 15th place at 160 (76-84).

Freshman Rebecca Markunas competed as an individual and tied for 83rd place at 172 (89-83).

The team title was the first for the Mountain Hawks since they won the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis (Pa.) in April 2014. It is the first time Lehigh won its own invitational since 2005.

The Mountain Hawks will close out their fall season later this week at the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational, Friday-Saturday in Bedminster, N.J.
