BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After opening Patriot League play with a 45-31 win over preseason favorite Colgate, Lehigh takes to the road for its next two games, beginning Saturday when the Mountain Hawks visit Georgetown. The Mountain Hawks have won four straight games and used contributions from all three phases to rally past the Raiders in the second half. Quarterback Nick Shafnisky threw for 394 yards in his return to Lehigh's lineup while junior Gatlin Casey had a career day with 11 receptions for 196 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff 93 yards for a fourth score.
Georgetown opens its Patriot League schedule on Saturday. The Hoyas started the season 3-0 with victories over Davidson, Marist and Columbia but have dropped two straight to Ivy League opponents, losing to Harvard and Princeton by identical 31-17 scores.

Sophomore Clay Norris started at quarterback against Princeton in place of injured starter Tim Barnes. Georgetown averages just 275 yards of offense per game while the defense allows 390.4 per contest. The Hoyas are plus-four in turnover margin thanks to eight interceptions. Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week Jelani Williamson has two of the eight interceptions and returned a blocked field goal 51 yards for a score last week. David Akere and Leo Loughrey are Georgetown's top tacklers with 46 and 42, respectively. Alex Valles has been the top ground gainer with 299 yards, while Justin Harrell leads Georgetown with 28 receptions. The Hoyas were 4-7 overall and 2-4 in league play in 2015.
Lehigh's offense enjoyed its fourth straight outstanding performance in the win over Colgate as the Mountain Hawks racked up 493 yards of offense, while eclipsing the 40-point margin for the fourth straight week. The last time a Lehigh team posted 40-plus points in four straight games was the final four regular season games in 1973. That team was the first to appear in the NCAA playoffs. Lehigh has never topped the 40 point mark in five consecutive games.
While quarterback Nick Shafnisky and wide receiver Troy Pelletier garner much of Lehigh's offensive attention, junior wideout Gatlin Casey has turned in career-best performances in each of the last three weeks. Over the last three games, Casey has 23 receptions for 513 yards and seven touchdowns, highlighted by an 11-catch, 196-yard, three-touchdown performance against Colgate. Casey also returned a kickoff 93 yards for a score against the Raiders, becoming the first Mountain Hawk to score 24 points in a game since Zach Barket accomplished the feat at Colgate in 2011. On Monday, Casey was named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week. Casey caught 34 passes for 488 yards and four scores as a sophomore. This year he ranks in the top five in the FCS in receiving touchdowns, total receiving yards, and all-purpose yards per game.
Lehigh was out-gained by Colgate 500-493 last week but the numbers don't necessarily tell the full story. Of the Raiders' 500 yards, 281 came on Colgate's first three drives of the game (including two scoring drives) and its final drive, when the Raiders scored late to pull back within two touchdowns. Lehigh's defense allowed Colgate to convert just 4-of-15 third downs and 2-of-4 fourth downs, while the Raiders punted six times, after punting just once in last year's 49-42 Colgate victory in Hamilton.
The Mountain Hawks have 21 first-year student-athletes on their 2016 roster, including several have contributed right away. Five freshmen have seen action in each of Lehigh's first six games, led by Riley O'Neil, who has 23 tackles in six starts at free safety. O'Neil had a solid all-around game versus Colgate with six tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery and was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his efforts. Ryan Nace, Jon Seighman, Jake Weir and Marquis Wilson have all seen action in all six games, primarily on special teams.
Lehigh and Georgetown meet for the 22nd time with the Mountain Hawks leading the series 16-5. Lehigh has won the last 15 meetings, including Patriot League-title clinching wins in 2010 and 2011. The Brown and White met the Hoyas for the first time in 1901 and the teams did not meet between 1926 and 2001.
Lehigh has had little trouble with Georgetown since the Hoyas joined the Patriot League in 2001. The Mountain Hawks have outscored the Hoyas by an average of 38-13 in the last 15 games.
Saturday's game kicks off just after 2 p.m. from Cooper Field in Washington, D.C. The game will be streamed on the Patriot League Network, while radio coverage for Saturday's game will be available on ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley (1230-1320-1160 AM) with pregame coverage beginning at 1 p.m.
Lehigh will play its second straight road game as the Mountain Hawks head to Holy Cross looking for their sixth win in the last seven years against the Crusaders. Kickoff is set for just after noon from Fitton Field in Worcester, Mass. in a game that will be televised nationally via the American Sports Network.
