Lehigh heads to Navy Wednesday for midweek matchup

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Lehigh women's basketball team will look to grab their second-straight win Wednesday when the Mountain Hawks head to Navy. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and free video will be available on the Patriot League Network with audio coverage live on 91.3 WLVR FM.
Lehigh aims to build upon the momentum gained from a 61-58 win over Holy Cross Sunday. In a game that saw 11 lead changes and five tie scores, the Mountain Hawks were able to come out on top and hand the Crusaders just their second Patriot League loss of the season.
Senior Kerry Kinek scored a season-high 23 points and added 12 rebounds to lead the Mountain Hawks with her fifth double-double of the season. Kinek's 23 points came from a 9-for-20 showing from the field and a 4-for-5 effort from the free throw line. Sophomore Quinci Mann followed with 16 points, marking her tenth-straight double-digit effort. Junior Lexi Martins pulled down 12 rebounds to go along with seven points, while senior Amina Affini dished a team-best four assists.
For the season, Lehigh has outscored its opponents by an average of 7.6 points per game and also holds a +6.9 rebounding margin. The Mountain Hawks have shot 40.7 percent from the field while limiting their opponents to a 36.4 field goal percentage. Martins leads the team with 14.3 points per game and a 14.4 rebounds per contest mark that ranks second best in all of Division I. Mann's season -long average sits at 13.7 points per contest, while Kinek follows with 12.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Mann is Lehigh's leading scorer in Patriot League play with 14.5 points per league contest.
Lehigh and Navy are tied for fifth place in the Patriot League standings as both teams own a 3-3 mark in league play. Navy is 9-8 overall and has won three of its last four games. The Mids most recently picked up a 65-58 overtime victory at Lafayette Saturday. Navy outscored the Leopards 8-1 at the end of regulation to force overtime, then scored the final 12 points of the extra session to come away with the victory.
Taylor Dunham led the Mids with 21 points while dishing out a trio of assists, Sarita Condie scored 10 points and handed out three assists and Sara Jones tallied eight points, five rebounds and three steals.
For the season, the Mids lead the Patriot League in three-point field goals made per game (6.7), offensive rebounds per game (14.0) and turnover margin (+5.24). Navy has scored an average of 57.9 points per game while limiting its opponents to 56.1. The Mids have been outrebounded by an average of 5.0 boards per contest.
Lehigh will be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak to Navy Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks' last win against the Mids came on Jan. 25, 2012 when Lehigh beat Navy 57-48. The two teams most recently met on Feb. 18, 2015 in Stabler Arena when the Mids picked up a 50-44 win. Lehigh couldn't get its offense in any sort of rhythm and shot just 25 percent from the field in the loss.
Sarah Williams led Lehigh offensively with 12 points and three assists. Martins was held to four points, but grabbed 17 rebounds. Kinek tallied seven points and five rebounds.The Mids were led by Dunham with 12 points and Justice Swett with 13 boards.
The Mountain Hawks finished the game shooting 25 percent (16-for-64) from the field, 31.3 percent (5-for-16) from three-point range and 50 percent (7-for-14) from the free throw line. Navy shot 38 percent (19-for-50) from the field, 27.3 percent (6-for-22) from downtown and 42.9 percent (6-for-14) from the charity stripe. Lehigh controlled a 50-39 rebound advantage, including a 20-7 edge on the offensive glass, but the Mountain Hawks were only able to score eight second-chance points.
Following Wednesday's game, Lehigh will return home to host archrival Lafayette Saturday at 7 p.m. inside Stabler Arena.
