
Lehigh returns home to host Cornell Monday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's soccer team gets back in action Monday night at 7 p.m. when the Mountain Hawks host Cornell at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Free video of the Labor Day contest will be available on the Patriot League Network.
The Mountain Hawks are 2-1 on the young season and are coming off a 1-0 win at Manhattan in Lehigh's first road game of the season Wednesday. A goal from senior Jamie Luchini in the 52nd minute proved to be the game winner and sophomore keeper Joe Bogan made two saves to record his second career shutout. Manhattan finished the game with a 12-7 shot advantage.
Lehigh is 1-1 at home this season after capturing a season-opening 3-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson and dropping a 3-0 contest to Pitt. Four different Mountain Hawks have scored goals this season and Luchini leads the squad with three points behind a goal and an assist.
Cornell will be playing its second game of the season when the Big Red travels to Bethlehem Monday. Cornell opened its season at Lafayette Friday and dropped a 2-1 match to the Leopards. Madison Heck tallied the first goal of the game for the Big Red in the seventh minute, but Lafayette used a goal in the 18th minute to tie the game before slotting home the game winner in the 60th minute. Cornell keeper Mitchell Meyer made seven saves and the Leopards finished the game with a 13-6 shot advantage.
The Mountain Hawks are 7-8-2 all-time against Cornell. The two programs haven't met since 2005.
Following Monday's matchup, the Mountain Hawks will kick off a three-game road trip when Lehigh travels to Delaware on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m.
