Lehigh opens fall play with ninth place finish at Tignanelli Towson Invitational

PHOENIX, Md. – The Lehigh women's golf team improved one stroke from Sunday, which was good enough to move up two places as the Tignanelli Towson Invitational concluded Monday at Eagles Nest Country Club. The Mountain Hawks followed up a 325 on Sunday with a 324 on Monday to finish ninth in the 19-team field at 649.
 
Senior Nicole Feierberg led the way for the Mountain Hawks, tying for fifth place at eight over par 152, three shots behind individual medalist Anneke Strobach at Fairleigh Dickinson. Feierberg's final round 73 was the low round of the tournament for the Mountain Hawks.
 
Freshman Dawon Jeong entered Monday just one stroke off the lead, but shot 82 on Monday and tied for 13th place at 157.
 
Also part of Lehigh's scoring team were junior Elizabeth McGarrigle, who tied for 64th place at 168 (82-86); freshman Raegan Jahn, who shot 172 (89-83) to finish in 74th place; and sophomore Casey Farmer, who carded back-to-back rounds of 93 to place 91st at 186.
 
Sophomore Megan Moylan competed as an individual and tied for 29th place at 161 (79-82).
 
The host Towson Tigers claimed the team title at 42 over par 618 (308-310). Towson beat Fairleigh Dickinson by two strokes while Bethune-Cookman finished third.
 
The Mountain Hawks return to action at the Bucknell Invitational beginning Saturday in Lewisburg, Pa.
