BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a strong season on the court, the Lehigh men's basketball team has been recognized for excellence in the classroom as six student-athletes were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
Sophomore English and Political Science major John Ross Glover led the way with a 3.80 GPA this spring. Seniors Stefan Cvrkalj (Accounting) and Corey Schaefer (Finance) each qualified for the honor roll for the fourth time in as many years, posting spring semester GPAs of 3.72 and 3.65, respectively.
Also on the honor roll were juniors Khalid McCaskill (3.51, Economics) and Devon Carter (3.50, Psychology) along with sophomore Georgios Pilitsis (3.54, Chemical Engineering).
Lehigh's six honorees are tied for the fourth most in the Patriot League (out of ten teams).
The Mountain Hawks finished the 2014-15 season with a 16-14 record, going 10-8 in the Patriot League to earn the #3 seed in the league tournament. After a tough start, Lehigh made impressive strides as the season progressed, winning seven-of-eight games beginning in mid-January to jump near the top of the league standings. The Mountain Hawks defeated a pair of power conference programs in DePaul and Arizona State while finishing 3-3 against teams who made the NCAA Tournament and NIT. Lehigh returns its six leading scorers next season, including the reigning Patriot League Player and Rookie of the Year (Tim Kempton and Kahron Ross), as excitement around the program continues to rise.
