
Mountain Hawks to close out regular season with matches at Colgate, vs. Lafayette

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the Patriot League Tournament looming around the corner, the Lehigh men's tennis team will to look to close out their 2015 regular season on a high note. The Mountain Hawks will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. on Saturday to take on Colgate then return home, where they own an 8-3 mark, to battle against archrival Lafayette on Monday.
Lehigh will look to bounce back from two losses to Army and Bucknell last weekend. The defeats dropped the Mountain Hawks' to 10-9 overall and 1-3 in league. Senior Mitchell Petersen had a strong showing last weekend as he posted single victories in both matches and also teamed with sophomore Ethan Bogard for a doubles win in Lehigh's 4-3 loss at Bucknell on Monday. Petersen has taken the team lead with 12 singles wins, playing primarily at the No. 4 singles flight. He and classmate Ben Gilman will be recognized prior to Monday's Lafayette match in what will be their final home match in the Brown and White.
Bogard and junior Jeremy Kochman are right behind Petersen with 11 singles wins. Gilman and Kochman lead Lehigh with 9-6 doubles records playing together.
Colgate comes into Saturday's match with an impressive mark of 13-5 and 3-1 in league competition. The Raiders have 11 of their last 12 matches including an active eight-match winning streak. Their last loss came on February 2 when they were defeated by BU. Colgate has already clinched its best season since 1998 where the Raiders went 16-9. Colgate edged Bucknell 4-3 on April 4. Last season, Lehigh defeated Colgate 6-1 in the regular season and 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
Lafayette enters the final weekend of the regular season at 6-9 overall and 1-5 in the Patriot League. The Leopards will look to carry the momentum over from a dominant win over Drew University in their last match. Lafayette will also take on Colgate on Sunday prior to the rivalry match against Lehigh. The Leopards will look to avenge a 6-1 defeat to Lehigh last spring.
After their matchup with Lafayette, the Mountain Hawks will begin their preparation for the Patriot League Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Bucknell and it will take place from April 16-19.
