Mountain Hawks edged 4-3 Monday at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team came up on the short end of a 4-3 score against Patriot League rival Bucknell Monday at Bucknell's Varsity Tennis Courts. The Bison won two of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point and a split of the six singles matches was good enough for the hosts.
Senior Mitchell Petersen and sophomore Ethan Bogard were winners at both doubles and singles for Lehigh, which falls to 10-9 overall and 1-3 in the Patriot League. Bucknell improves to 11-8 overall and 2-2 in the league.
Petersen and Bogard defeated Daniel Wright and Maxwell Kane 8-5 at the No. 2 doubles flight but the host Bison claimed 8-4 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights.
Needing to win four singles matches, the Mountain Hawks got wins from Petersen, 7-5, 6-2 over Octavio Canibe at the No. 4 flight and Bogard, 7-6, 6-3 over Kane at No. 5.
Two of the six singles matches went to three sets. For Lehigh, freshman Jack Petersen won 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 at the No. 3 flight while Bucknell claimed a key win at No. 2 as Wright rallied from a set down to defeat junior Jeremy Kochman.
Bucknell claimed the match at No. 1 singles as Bison ace Nick Bybel defeated senior Ben Gilman in straight sets. The Bison claimed the match at No. 6 as well with Ben Gerber defeating sophomore Tyler Hansen.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Colgate to face the Raiders at 2 p.m.
